Common metric and imperial conversions at 1, 10 and 100 units

The most-converted unit pairs across the calculator's four modes, showing exactly what this converter returns for 1, 10 and 100 of the source unit. The three temperature rows convert 1, 10 and 100 degrees on the source scale.

Values are shown to the same precision the converter displays; the underlying factors are the exact international definitions, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg. Volume units here are US measures: a US gallon is 3.785 L against 4.546 L for an imperial gallon, and a US cup is about 237 ml, so pick the unit that matches your recipe or document. Temperature is the one category with no single multiplier, because the scales have different zero points.

Why a single converter?

Most converters bury you in dropdowns. ConvertX uses just two cards — pick a unit on each side and swap with one tap. The math runs locally in your browser, so there's no network round-trip and no tracking.

Supported units

  • Length: mm, cm, m, km, in, ft, yd, mi.
  • Weight: mg, g, kg, t, oz, lb, st.
  • Temperature: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin.
  • Volume: ml, L, m³, tsp, tbsp, cup, pt, qt, gal.

Everyday conversion factors

  • 1 inch = 2.54 cm · 1 foot = 30.48 cm · 1 mile = 1.609 km
  • 1 kg = 2.205 lb · 1 oz = 28.35 g · 1 stone = 6.35 kg
  • °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32 · K = °C + 273.15
  • 1 US gallon = 3.785 L · 1 cup ≈ 237 ml (US)

Watch-outs

  • US and imperial (UK) gallons, pints, and cups differ — pick the right one.
  • Temperature isn't a simple multiply; the scales have different zero points.
  • Weight (mass) and force differ in physics, though everyday use treats kg as weight.
  • Fluid ounces measure volume, not the ounces used for weight.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert metric to imperial units?

Each conversion multiplies by a fixed factor: 1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 mile = 1.609 km, 1 kg = 2.205 lb, 1 litre = 0.264 US gallons. This converter applies the exact factors for you — pick a unit on each side and the result updates as you type, in either direction.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply the Celsius value by 9/5 and add 32: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. To go the other way, subtract 32 first, then multiply by 5/9. So 20 °C = 68 °F, and 100 °C = 212 °F. Temperature is the one case where you can't just multiply by a single factor because the scales have different zero points.

How many grams are in an ounce, and pounds in a kilogram?

1 ounce is about 28.35 grams, and 1 kilogram is about 2.205 pounds (so 1 pound ≈ 0.4536 kg). For quick kitchen estimates people often round an ounce to 28 g, but this converter uses the precise factor so your result stays accurate.

Are the conversions exact?

The underlying factors are the internationally defined ones (for example, 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm), so results are as accurate as the number of digits shown. Any small rounding you see is only in the display, not in the calculation.

Can I convert cooking measurements like cups and tablespoons?

Yes — the volume mode covers millilitres, litres, teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. Note that US and imperial (UK) cups differ slightly, so pick the unit that matches your recipe's origin for the closest result.
