Business Days Calculator
For project timelines and deadlines that only count weekdays, not calendar days.
Business days in 2026 periods
Business days count Monday to Friday and exclude weekends. Public holidays are not deducted.
| Period | Calendar days | Business days | Weekend days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 31 January 2026 | 31 | 22 | 9 |
| 1 to 31 March 2026 | 31 | 22 | 9 |
| 1 January to 31 March 2026 | 90 | 64 | 26 |
| 1 January to 30 June 2026 | 181 | 129 | 52 |
| Full year 2026 | 365 | 261 | 104 |
261 business days is the 2026 figure, and it varies between 260 and 262 depending on how the year's weekdays fall - which matters for annual salary-to-day-rate calculations. Public holidays are not deducted here and typically remove another 8 to 12 days depending on country, bringing a realistic working year closer to 250. Use business days for delivery estimates, notice periods and service-level agreements, all of which normally exclude weekends, but check whether the agreement also excludes public holidays.
Weekends only, not public holidays
This calculator excludes Saturdays and Sundays but doesn't know about public holidays specific to your country or company — subtract those manually if your deadline needs to account for them too.
Why business days matter for deadlines
A '10 business day' shipping estimate or contract deadline can span nearly 3 calendar weeks once weekends are excluded — using calendar days instead of business days is a common source of missed-deadline surprises.
Frequently asked questions
My passport application says '10 business days' processing — what's the actual calendar date?
10 business days = 2 full work weeks = 14 calendar days (if no holidays fall in between). If you applied on a Monday, expect it 2 Mondays later. Applied on a Wednesday? Expect it the following Friday (2 weeks + 2 weekend days).
How is this different from the date difference calculator?
The date difference calculator counts all days (calendar days). This one counts only weekdays (Mon-Fri), which is what 'business days' means in most shipping, legal, and HR contexts. Use this when a deadline specifies business days rather than calendar days.
Does this account for public holidays?
No — it counts Mon-Fri only, excluding weekends. Public holidays vary by country, state, and even company, so you'll need to subtract those manually. A '10 business day' estimate during a holiday-heavy period (late December) can stretch to 3+ calendar weeks.
