Vedic Maths Practice & Worksheets
Pick a sutra and get a set of problems: answer them against the clock, check them, or print the sheet with its answer key.
One example from each practice set
Every set practises one sutra. These are typical problems from each, with the step that makes them quick; the sheets themselves are generated from the worksheet number.
| Practice set | Sutra | Example | Key step | Answer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiply near 100 | Nikhilam | 97 x 96 | 97 - 4 = 93 | 3 x 4 = 12 | 9,312 |
| Squares ending in 5 | Ekadhikena Purvena | 85^2 | 8 x 9 = 72 | 25 | 7,225 |
| Squares near 100 | Yavadunam | 94^2 | 94 - 6 = 88 | 6^2 = 36 | 8,836 |
| Multiply by 11 | Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam | 53 x 11 | 5 | 5 + 3 | 3 | 583 |
| Two-digit x two-digit | Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam | 43 x 12 | 5 | 1 | 6 | 516 |
| Divide by 9 | Nikhilam | 2134 / 9 | 236 | 10 = 237 | 1 | 237 r 1 |
| Square roots of perfect squares | Vilokanam | sqrt(5776) | ends in 4 or 6; 57 >= 7 x 8 | 76 |
Each sheet holds 10, 20 or 30 different problems of one kind, and the same worksheet number always gives the same problems. Wrong answers link to the matching calculator with the numbers filled in, so the full working is one tap away.
How to practise Vedic maths so it sticks
Work on one sutra at a time: every problem in a set suits the same method, so the steps become automatic before you mix them. Start with 10 problems and no hurry, using the worked first problem as a model. Once you get them all right, move to 20 against the clock; accuracy comes first and speed follows. After you check your answers, each wrong one links to its full working, with the numbers filled in.
Using the worksheets in a class
The worksheet number fixes the problems: sheet 12 of Multiply near 100 is the same for everyone, so a teacher can share the number or the page link and the class works on the same set. Print worksheet and answers puts the questions on the first page and the answer key on its own page, so the questions can be handed out alone. New sheet gives a different set at the same level.
Frequently asked questions
Which Vedic maths topics are included?
Seven sets, each tied to one sutra: multiplying numbers near 100 (Nikhilam), squares ending in 5 (Ekadhikena Purvena), squares near 100 (Yavadunam), multiplying by 11 and two-digit by two-digit (Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam), dividing by 9 (Nikhilam) and square roots of perfect squares (Vilokanam).
Can I print the worksheets or save them as PDF?
Yes, for free. Print worksheet and answers opens your browser's print dialog, where you can print or choose Save as PDF. The questions come with blank answer lines and a space for name, date and time taken, and the answers are on a separate page.
Can I share a worksheet with students?
Copy link shares the topic, the number of problems and the worksheet number, so whoever opens it gets exactly the same problems. Typed answers are never included in the link.
How should I type a division answer?
Type the quotient and the remainder, for example 237 r 1, 237 R1 or 237, 1. If the remainder is 0 the quotient alone is enough.
